Basically, we all have a "twin soul" that has many of the same traits that we do; likes, dislikes and there will be things that have happened to each of you that you can relate to.
And then there is the connection!
The important thing to note is that you don't know who your twin is. It could be a mom or dad that you know. It could be your own brother or sister. It could even be a best friend.
Male or female.
It certainly isn't referring to being sexual with the person (although if the two of you are developing a relationship that turns sexual, the bond may become that much more deeper).
The truth (as I have come to learn it) is that it refers to the two of you finding each other and coming together in some form. (How ever that manifests itself.)
The interesting thing that I have noticed is that in the past (twenty five plus years ago) if Twin Souls came together, (as in significant others) their relationship would be rocky at best.
More and more Twin Souls are coming together and creating a beautiful relationship. (Nothing is perfect and all relationships take work.) However, "Twins" are finding each other and showing to the world what it truly means to create "Heaven on Earth" with the person that they love.
So if you feel your "Twin" is out there how do find them?
Speaking from experience it can take a long time. You may be searching high and low to no apparent avail. Enjoy the ride and know that when the two of you come together that it with be on Spirit's time (the Universe/God, however you want to say it) and not your time. (Believe me when I say how frustrating this point can be because if you are looking you want to find them as soon as you possibly can and not wait years searching for them.)
It will most likely happen when you least expect it. And you will come to learn that the two of you have reached the point in your lives that (coming together) is perfect.
The other interesting thing is that you never know where he or she might live. (There was 3,000 miles separating my Wife and I.)
I went looking in a chatroom to find people I could actually have a conversation with. Not love, just people I could talk to. So, I did that by finding a room that had only about five or six people in it and Lisa was there.
I always marvel at it because out of about one billion people on this planet that might fall within what I was looking for, we found each other.
That is the miracle of the Twin Souls. Finding each other in a sea of people.
Now, getting back to you . . .
When you find your Twin you will know by the "connection" that you two have. You will be able to feel each other, finish each other's sentence (or at least know what he or she is about ready to say/or you say what they are thinking).
But it is important to remember three things:
That you will come together on Spirit's time table (Universe/God etc.)
You must not be looking for him or her.
And possibly, you may not find them. (Or they are already in your life and you just don't realize it yet.)
Searching for your Twin can be one of the most rewarding things in your life (outside of children) that you are able to do. It also can be just one part of a Life Journey that tells the world:
"This is one element of how I create 'Heaven on Earth', and you can too."
